Liberate your Inner Foolishness

Inner FoolishnessHappy April Fool’s Day!  I had to take a break and talk about Foolishness!  I’m reclaiming my inner foolishness, and here’s why.

The Fool archetype teaches us how be in complete and total faith that our divine purpose is unfolding in every moment of our lives.  In the tarot, the Fool card is unnumbered or numbered 0.  Zero is mystical and powerful— what is nothing, exactly?  To me, it’s the element of Center, the pivot point between creation and destruction.  Because of that zero makes me think of infinity, its polar opposite.  Nothing and infinity are supreme aspects of Divinity, both embodied in the Fool archetype.

In his complete and total faith in being taken care of by the Divine, the Fool demonstrates innocence, purity, and open-heartedness.  He walks with his heart out front, love leading the way.  The Fool does not think, he acts as if blown by the wind, as free as a dandelion seed.  And he’s HAPPY– all his needs are met – he has food on his back, companionship, warm sunshine and beauty.  He is in complete trust and surrender to Divine Will, with enough faith to step off the cliff if that’s part of his life’s purpose.

These spiritual states of consciousness can take entire lifetimes to uncover in ourselves and maintain through life’s challenges.  In the moments when we achieve them, we are connected with the unity of all consciousness, we are connected with our Creator selves.  We gain clarity about our life purpose and get all the support we need to fulfill it.

So I hereby invoke my divine inner Foolishness!  I ask for freedom from having to know everything!  I ask for trust that my every need is completely fulfilled!  I ask to be pure of karma – may I be forgiven, cleansed and healed!  I ask to become an empty vessel to be filled by Divine Light, to enlighten the suffering world!  I ask for light-heartedness to bless me with joyful laughter and enact playfulness all day!   Above all, I ask Divine Love, through the wisdom of my heart — to Lead my Way!

    Hey Octavia,
I held my inner foolishness throughout my childhood. It sent me outdoors to listen to trees. It comes out as rowdy Bart Simpson when the meeting goes too long. It helps me choose my travel companions. It comes out whenever an either/or choice is offered to me; I’ll come up with an absurd 3rd or 4th choice, and take that one. These days, I like it best when it comes out at night-time, camping, in the tent with my grandkids. We invent our own bedtime stories mixed with tickles and zerbots.
Deprived of a happy childhood, I’m never putting my inner child in a closet again!
